Yet More Random Connections

It's still Saturday and we've arrived in Strasbourg. The unusual connections continue! When discussing the options of what to do the next several days, we decided to go to their small farm in the Vosges Mountains. In another random link of worlds, Roland and Francois tell us that their farm is in Mennonite territory, with a Mennonite population and an old Mennonite cemetery. A small world, for sure.

Here in Strasbourg with Roland and Francois, we're getting into a mashup of three languages: German, French and English. It works, albeit more slowly. I don't understand any of the French words (beyond "oui" and "merci"), but in the end it works into some great conversations despite the need to translate back and forth. This is the Alsace region, with its mix of cultures, languages, religions/denominations, and politics in a region that was used in a game of political tug-o-war between France and Germany over the centuries.
