A Brief Tribute to a Friend and Another Market Day

Just a brief word before my daily travelogue. Several days ago, back in Reedley, Don F. died. We were sorry we missed the evening of singing outside his window the night before he died. Don was passionate about peace building in Reedley and in the world. He was a driving force behind the Reedley Peace Center from its inception. He no longer has to witness the chaotic demise of our democracy, but we will miss his quiet-but-powerful presence in our community. Rest in peace, Don. You did good work in your lifetime.

Annecy is a meandering sort of town. With lots of paths and streets to meander down. That seems to be what everyone is doing. Meander, sit and people watch, drink coffee, meander, grab a sandwich and sit in the park, meander some more. It's lovely way to spend a day.

There was another market this morning, this one in Annecy's old town and aimed at tourists more than locals. We bought some fresh peas from one guy, then a caprese sandwich from another, and headed down to the waterfront for a picnic.

While waiting for a boat ride, Le Cornet d'Or or Cone of Gold, the same ice cream truck from yesterday drove up and set up right in front of us. We took it as a sign, of course.

We ended the day with a boat ride on Lake Annecy before dinner/pizza.

(This man said his wife makes these and they mean it as a joke. They want no MAGA in Annecy.)
(Lunch by the lake.)
