Receding Glaciers, Waterfalls, and Horses

A map at the Vatnajökull Glacier showed how fast the glacier has been receding. It was alarming to see how much it has changed since Doug and I stood in this spot in 2016. We know it's happening and why, which makes it all the more infuriating that we do not have the political will to do what needs to be done about climate change.

For much of the trip we've been joking that the animals (horses, sheep, reindeer) could do a much better job of lining themselves up in front of a fjord, a mountain, a waterfall to create the perfect photo op. So when we drove past this scene, we all laughed as we turned around to go back and capture it. Icelandic horses in front of a random, no-name waterfall coming off the glacier on the south coast of Iceland.

And once more, just for Barbara -- several more pics of the horses. These were particularly beautiful.
